KUWAIT, July 25 (KUNA) -- 1979 -- Patients' Help Fund, Kuwait's first medical charitable institution, is established by a group of local doctors.
1985 -- Saleh Shihab, best remembered for his efforts to institutionalize the tourism industry in Kuwait during the 1960s and 1970s, passes away at the age of 61. His last official post was assistant undersecretary for cultural and tourism affairs.

1999 -- Pioneering folklore singer Ameena Mubarak, better known as Umm Zayed, passes away.
